Solar lighting-our past and the future
Solar lighting techniques have been in use since ages. From the Pantheon in Rome to the Taj Mahal in India, natural light has been very smartly used to light up the structures, thus eliminating the use of any other light (which was also not available then!).
Unlike solar heating, these day-lighting systems use the sun’s light to full effect to illuminate houses, office buildings and other structures. They reduce the dependence on conventional sources and in addition help reduce the bills. Strategic placement of windows to match the sun is one of the things which is done.
